Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument located in the English county of Wiltshire, about 3.2 kilometers (2.0 miles) west of Amesbury and 13 km (8.1 miles) north of Salisbury.
Archeologi believe that the position stones were erected around 2200 BC and the land surrounding circular bank and ditch, which constitute the first phase of the monument, were dated to about 3100 BC.
New archaeological evidence to find the Stonehenge Riverside Project indicates that Stonehenge was used as a burial ground from its earliest beginnings.
